A typical Mediterranean climate prevails in Antalya. The main characteristics of this climate are hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters.
The prominent features of Antalya’s climate are as follows:
Temperature and Sunshine: The city enjoys an average of 300 sunny days per year. During the summer months, temperatures generally range between 30–35°C, but they frequently exceed 40°C. High humidity levels further increase the perceived temperature in summer.
Mild Winters: The Taurus Mountains block cold air masses coming from the north, resulting in very mild winters. Winter temperatures rarely fall below 10°C, and snowfall in the city center is almost nonexistent.
Precipitation Pattern: Rainfall is largely concentrated in the winter months (December–January). According to data from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, January is the wettest month, with an average precipitation of 225.5 mm.
Sea Water Temperature: While sea water temperatures reach around 29°C in August, they remain at about 16–17°C even in winter, allowing swimming for most of the year.
